After vacationing, time for rebuilding
August may be one of the busiest months of the year for yacht repairs at Foster’s Yacht Services at Lauderdale’s Marina in Fort Lauderdale, said owner Dennis Foster.
“People want to make sure their boats are perfect before the start of the boat show season,” Foster said. Boat show season usually begins in the fall. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show starts at the end of October. “So summer, especially toward the end of it, is the busiest time for major boat maintenance.”
Foster’s company specializes in major yacht repairs, such as engine rebuilding, interior upgrades, hull extensions and even fly bridge installments. The company has been operating in Fort Lauderdale since 1986.
“It’s cyclical,” said Foster, who said his company completes around 10 major projects a year.
